Washing the vehicle is such a great sunday dinner time activity ; sunshine, a bucket of soapy water, a sponge and the garden hose. But what do you do when you want to give it more than just an once over clean? Where do you start and how do you know what to use and where? Detailing takes cleaning to a higher level, outside the common wash and wax routine. Actually, detailing is just that, paying close attention to all of the details of your vehicle. The final result can be fantastic, making your vehicle look like it just drove off the showroom floor and how wonderful it feels to drive an in depth car! So how does one start?

Start by removing the floor mats ( vacuuming and washing them ), cleaning the carpeting and upholstery and finish with an intensive vacuuming. Correct any burns or holes in your upholstery employing a correct kit from your auto shop. Clean all the hard surfaces of the interior with a moist cloth and mild soapy warm water.
The dashboard will truly give you a sense of what detailing is all about with all those buttons, crevices and spaces you will need to get into to remove dust and grime. The easiest way to do this is to employ a can of compressed air to blast away anything that shouldn’t be there. At about that point, you use an Armor-All type product to put a tiny shine on the dash and consoles.
Before you get busy with your soapy water and sponge, patch up any damage to the paintwork to make sure you get a glossy and perfect finish. Polish the auto to give it that final gloss ; it also will help to offer protection to the paintwork from further sun damage. Finish off the job with a coat of tire dressing and you are done with your do it yourself automobile detailing.

Wax is the first material to prevent the oxidation of the paint of a vehicle. The protecting layer formed by the car wax is enough to save the paint from oxidization and it will not form complete protection from all damage,eg bird droppings and scratches from heavy objects. Car wax also gives your auto a natural shine and saves it from harsh environment.
Though car wax does not provide complete protection from scratches in any it does make them less plain which is awfully favorable. Car wax also reduces corrosion due to water as it forms a seal on the pain through which water cannot enter. Car wax isn’t an everlasting application and must be reapplied continually for most satisfactory results. The life of a high quality car wax is 3 to four months therefore there’s a need for reapplication every 3 months.
Before a vehicle is waxed it is chose to get it buffered with an electrical buffer to get rid of minor scratches and nay irregularity in the paint, after buffering only it’s a smart move to wax the vehicle which should be repeated every 3 months. Also your car must be clean and dry before you start waxing it. It is advisable to ensure you buy a non abrasive auto wax so your vehicle does not get damaged in any way Advisably you should go thru directions provided on the package itself and test the wax on a small area first in order to check if it is right for your car. It is preferable to make a thin and even layer all over the automobile and thick layers should be steered clear of as due to this the shine is lost. Only use car wax on the painted, metal bits and avoid touching the rubber, glass and other parts that will get spoilt if wax is utilized on them.

After applying the wax evenly all over, wait for 2 minutes before buffing it for a nice and glossy look.

Professional Car Polishing – A How To Guide

Emblems and moldings, wax covered around door edges, we have all witnessed it before. This white, chalky appearance that reveals a vehicle has been slop polished fast. You should read it if you wish for safe ride.

To begin, we need to figure how just how dirty the car is. It’s merely dust from driving then air blowing it down will function to eliminate 80 percent of the surface’s dust. For that work, a small pancake compressor using 110 volt is good. In case you unintentionally collide into something, you can prevent scratching the surface by buying an air blower that comes with a rubber tip.

Most un-avoidable circumstances only you keep your car in direct sun. As far as possible you park your car in a garrage or under shade or under a carport. The outdoor wind has a tendency to blow dust onto the surface you’re attempting to detail, so it would be wise to do it inside if you can. Buy tack cloths for yourself next. The advantage is that unlike some other types of products, the Surgical Blue brand will not leave a gluey scum, which makes it alright to use even though it looks very sleazy.

So is car waxing can be hard? Of course no! It is optimal to have about a 1/2 thick covering your hand and to keep the tack cloth puffy. You can clean off 100% of the dust when you lightly wipe the car after it is finished. Pre-paint cleaning so you know they are the best. Let the cloth do the work instead of your back and arms. No force let is ease gently. Stroke 2-4 times long and straight just before turning over cloth to the clean side. Continue all the steps until the vehicle is thoroughly wiped. One good choice is the Dupont E-4144 Sontera polishing cloth, and it is also disposable. These won’t scratch surfaces but will let water wipe, polish application, and exactly correct removal.

It the air blow way and tack rag don’t do the job since there’s too much surface dirt you may try wetting down a few Sontera towels and wipe the surface clean. Tearing clothes into three or four pieces in an way that are damp and tack rags.

Wet the towel, but wring it out so it doesn’t drip. Once you squeeze the product out, there should be no dripping. If the product does drip out, it will leave water spots and/or streaks on the finish. Turn the rag often to a clean side, which is the same way as the tack rag, use long strokes as well.

If you wash your car by hand or take it to a car wash, your finish will sustain some scratches. The water bucket and soap method is visible under low light but not under high light. The moistened Sontera cloths easily pick up dirt and grime due to the dampness of the towel.

You must turn the rags to a clean region regularly until your project is totally finished. It may be necessary for you to use 3-6 sets of cloths. A clean rag can serve the same purpose as the tack rag, by folding the clean rag to a 1/2″ thickness and proceeding to wipe and turn to a clean side until it is not picking up any more dirt. Do not ever rinse in water and utilize the same rags since this will result in surface scratches. After completely cleaning the car, make sure to tape off all moldings, gaps and emblems to prevent wax or polish from getting into the crevices and making it difficult to remove from these small areas. Gently place it on with your left hand allowing the fingers to guide it into position while the right hand assists. If you are left handed reverse that.

The 3M 05990 hand Glaze lasts for only 1-2 days. It is used for show work only, however, the finish it leaves is much better than that of a wax job. You can use any of the following application methods with your preferred choice of wax. In the refinishing playing we use this product because it has no silicone like rise which can contaminate a makeup shop with seek receptor problems.

This particular product is wiped off much easier than wax is although it does not have quite as long as an effect as regular wax does. Tiny amounts are squeezed onto the Sontera rags about the size of a fifty cent piece is ideal. Apply the glaze with minimal pressure and you will see how simple it is for molding or emblems to get buildup in the cracks versus the taped areas.

Wipe until the residue is gone by using another set of folded dry cloths. The paint is going to show you a gorgeous reflection. The perfect solution for any type of scratch or stain that you have not been able to remove is 3M Finesse It part #5929 If you are not experienced in power buffing, which may be a faster method, you should only use this material by hand. You apply it the same way as all the other methods. Glazing to complete the job is necessary, even if the result of the finish comes out admirable after it is buffed out.

And, on the tires we utilize an item known as Forever Black, which can be found at the majority of vehicle parts shops. This item blackens wheels so they appear fresh yet it doesn’t leave them fake or shiny like a few items do. You need to clean the tires prior to starting, just like you clean the paint. Using some of cloths previously utilised on the painted surface water wipe them down just time the treads.

If you really want your care to shine take the tires off and thoroughly clean the treads before moving on to the next part. No detail is too small for attention, and just one example is that for a show, after detailing the tires, we wrap them in plastic and once the car is unveiled at the show, we cut the plastic away so every groove of the tire treads are perfect. While the foam block applicator is being used, liberally spread the tire gel in an even layer over the absorbent tires. To remove the residue wipe with a dry rag. If you think it’s necessary you can touch this up.

These are the ways to succeed. It will take approximately 2 hours of continuous work to accomplish this with the typical vehicle. If you demand nothing but the best, this is worth it.

Car Maintenance and Care

As far as mode of transportation, cars are becoming more expensive. We want to keep it in good condition by keeping it clean. Keeping it bright and fresh with a wax finish is a priority. We make sure it is handled carefully whenever we bring it to a repair or car center because we do not want to see scratches on the body.

However, this is only the outside of the vehicle. The outside appearance of our cars may look appealing, but is it the same case with the inside? Keeping the inside clean is just as crucial as keeping the outside clean. For further emphasis, consider that we sit in our cars for hours each day as we travel back and forth to work. In addition, once in a while we give rides to other people.

You may like keeping the outside sharp for appearances, but the inside of your car should be clean for health reasons as well. The air we inhale inside should be new and clean. While we are riding, we don’t want to smell anything unpleasent. Regular scheduled cleanings eliminate the risk of diseases brought about by dust and dirt. So the questions is – car interior cleaning – is it hard?

Some car owners spend quite a bit of money having their cars washed, both inside and out, by professionals, instead they should wash their cars them selves.

Save money by learning how to clean your own car and forgo the professional services. Dont, prejudge advice. I suggest always refer to another source like a book for extra knowledge about auto cleaning and apply what your learned yourself. You will have the knowledge to wash the rims, tires, seats, mats, dashboards, etc. of the vehicle.

Self car cleaning gives your body a good exercise but be cautious about the hazards caused due to pollution to yourself and your family. The following are some suggestions as to how best clean the inside of your car.

The dirt and grime are sucked away to reveal the true color of your seats and floor. Before you begin vacuuming you should get all of the trash and any large items out of your car. After you clean out the ashtray, take out the mats and covers for the seats, you can begin vacuuming with the soft brush attachment to remove dust and dirt. Leather seats are easily scratched. You need to be careful when you vacuum them.

Cleaners should be misted onto the seats, doors and other upholstery, after which it should be rubbed in gently. Keep it from getting wet use a dry rag. Laundry soap is also an additional option if you don’t have a spray cleaner. There is just one simple instruction. Mix it up with warm water and use it. Seats soaked with water can become stained and musty.

Just as carpets should not be soaked in water to avoid mold, some seat covers have special washing directions. Avoid direct sunlight when applying car wax or polish to eliminate drying.

When cleaning the dashboard of a car make sure you use a clean wet clothe. To dry it be sure to use a clean soft cloth or towel. After that, spray a little bit of plastic polish and spread it slightly with a dry, but soft cloth. Polishing your cars dashboard not only makes it shiny but it also helps to protect it.

Eliminate strong offensive odors residing in the air conditioner. Clogs can be caused by dirt, leaves and general debris. Clear out liquid from the tube. Avoid foul odor by applying a non-abrasive disinfectant.

It is important to regularly have your oil changed. Otherwise unpleasant smells will leak into the interiors. It would smell better in here if the air conditioner was off. Adding air refreshers within will cause a more aromatic sensation.

For cleaning and maintaining a good looking car there are many kinds of leading chemical, wax and polishes to choose from. They include the following such as resin glaze wax, liquid glass polish , cleaner car wax, chrome polish, metal polish cream and liquid car polish.

There are so many accessories available for cleaning and maintenance, including brushes, brooms, a variety of fabrics and appliances, often available in multiple sizes as well.

When you park your car out in the open, make sure to cover it with a canvas tarp or cloth so that it is protected from heat and inclement weather.

How to polish and wax your car like a pro

It is amazing the number of people that dont know how to correctly clean or polish and wax their cars. Many people use products that were never reserved for their car and others use products and equipment that should really only be utilised by properly trained professionals. Some never even wax or clean their automobiles. Then they wonder why their vehicle is given an extraordinarily low trade in figure at the dealer, or why their paint is lifeless and flaking.
We asked them what products they used and for tips that customers could use. They just about came back with the same advice :

correctly clean the auto : This is critical as the utilization of harsh, non-automotive products can actually harm your cars finish and make it wear faster. Spray the auto first and get it wet. Use the water to spray off mud and other contaminates that will scratch your automobile if you immediately start using a sponge and water first. Do make sure you use warm water as it works best to loosen contaminates. Follow the directions on the bottle. You will find it easier if you employ a long handled wash brush ( most car parts stores have these ). It is much quicker and simpler.
Remove uncooperative contaminants : there will be dust, bugs, tar, etc? That will be left after washing. The emphatic answer from the pros was Meguiar?s bug and tar cleaner. Remove all of the contaminants and follow the directions ( some products can remove paint if misused ). Expert tip : 3M and other manufacturers make a plastic shield that may be applied over areas of your car?s paint like bumpers and behind the tires to guard from pollutants and rock chips.
Use a rounded motion, just like for wax. Follow the directions for that particular cleaner polish ( some require a wet or damp applicator pad others don?t ). Most cleaner polishes will dry to a whitish haze. Be certain to buff off all of the haze and residue from the cleaner polish. When done the car finish will be actually smooth. Be careful and use low rpm?s ( under 2k ) anything above this and you risk burning the paint.

Automobile wax is usually a blend of carnauba and other waxes that will give a deep, wet look and new automobile shine. It comes in both a liquid and a paste, and it will not last so long as an auto polish. Automobile wax is also less effective in high temperatures and can basically melt on hot areas like the hood. The experts counsel a vehicle polish with Teflon in it for max protection and sturdiness. The gurus love the extra, deeper shine from vehicle wax, but all agreed it was better suited for automobile shows. Whichever you choose, they’re both applied the same way. Then buff dry with a clean terry material or microfiber towel. Please note – always use color match car wax. For example, if you have a black car, always use black car wax.
Expert tip : dont use regular towels or nappy cloths as they can trap dirt particles and similar and leave scratch patterns in your finish. Two to three coats are advocated for maximum protection and shine. Expert tip : Apply auto wax, not vehicle polish ( as car polish will leave streaks and smudges on glass ), to your windows. Do one light coat and utterly buff it off. The auto wax will work better than the number one brand glass treatment for rain ( it will also quite your windscreen wipers ).
